Your Lyrics, Your Music, They Matter!

I recently went to a Jeremy Enigk show. If you’ve ever been a fan of emo music, you should know who he is. The things he’s written as a solo artist and with his primary band, Sunny Day Real Estate, were transforming for a lot of people in that scene. If you’ve never heard of him, he’s just a name. What he has done may have had no impact on you.

Touring with him was Chris Staples. I enjoy some of his solo music and loved the band he was in, twothirtyeight. His circle of impact is even smaller than Jeremy’s.

Their music matters to me, but not everybody. Their music has impacted me, but not everybody.

It’s easy to get discouraged thinking about people who don’t like your music, but even the best musicians have people who don’t like their music. Some of the best musicians have people who hate their music, but they don’t let that stop them. Your music matters, don’t stop making it. It matters to somebody.
